Trip to Asia: Part Two - Hong Kong

Hong Kong is simply breathtaking. Islands, Hills, Skyscrapers. At first it can be overwhelming. Very different from Singapore. Different but good. Hong Kong is a city that never sleeps. have So many stores of all sizes, restaurants and cuisines from all over the world, and street food, my favorite!  In Hong Kong we celebrated  the 80th anniversary of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan. A very  special tribute indeed. Some of the hi-lites were attending workshops by Grand Master Eddie Wu at Wu's Tai Chi Chuan Headquarters, paying respect to ancestors of Wu Family members, especially the Founder, Grand Master Wu Chien Chuan, who is laid to rest above Yuen Long Temple. The nuns at the Temple were very hospitable and prepared a eight course vegetarian meal, simply delicious. Hong Kong is a great place to shop. It doesn't matter what you are looking for, you will find it. Temple street is very popular because merchants have small booths displaying their goods. Negotiating prices is an art, and a must! Good luck charms, scrolls, silk shirts were among my purchases. Fastest and most inexpensive way to move around town was via the MTR, Hong Kong's subway system. I loved it!

Trip to Asia: Part One - Singapore

2017 is definitely a special year in many ways. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan in Singapore. Tai Chi practitioners from around the world came to partake in the festivities, which included a two day tournament, gala reception and a visit to Singapore's Tai Chi Chuan Physical Cultural Association.

Singapore is truly a beautiful city. Since I love gardens, I particularly enjoyed the National Botanical Gardens, especially the Orchid Exhibit. The colors and varieties were simply stunning. Gardens at the Bay was another favorite of mine; perhaps because of the air conditioned dome. Temperatures reached almost 100 degrees daily with high humidity.

Many thanks for Grand Master Eddie Wu Kwong Yu for organizing such an amazing trip!

The Year of the Rooster Begins!

Looking back, 2016 was an incredible year for Motor City Tai Chi (MCTC). In addition to our Warren location, I decided to bring Tai Chi to the cities of Detroit and Troy. It has been very gratifying to help students from all walks of life that are trying to improve their health and learn about this ancient Chinese martial art.

One of my most exciting highlights of 2016 was when MCTC was selected by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to create a special Tai Chi program for local High School students. Martial Arts has had a lasting impact on my life, so it is important to me to share this experience with young students who are still trying to find their way.

Looking forward to 2017, the year of the Rooster, I am very positive and optimistic. May it be a Healthy and Happy New Year!
